I'm considering doing a JAMMA board on the same panel as the I/O board - though perhaps it'll require less layers...

Rather than be specific to the DE1/DE2, I'd like to make it as easy as possible to interface to.

Of course, one end is the JAMMA connector, with control, audio and video I/O.

The other end will comprise:
1xhdr for flying video lead from FPGA board
1xhdr for flying audio lead from FPGA board
1xhdr for SPI bus to FPGA board

So in effect, you'll only need 4 pins from the FPGA to connect to the JAMMA board. A 5V tolerant CPLD on the JAMMA I/O board will interface to the control panel inputs and mux them over a SPI bus to the FPGA.

There won't be any attempt to power the FPGA board from JAMMA though...
